About

A Unique Space with Endless Possibilities

The Butterfly Mill's story is one of constant evolution. Built in 1812 and located on historic Great Road in Lincoln, Rhode Island, The Butterfly Mill was built by Stephen Hopkins Smith and named after the two “wing-like stones” that were placed side by side during the construction. Once a bustling mill, it has transformed into a schoolhouse, a grocery store, and even a distillery. Now, it stands as a testament to both the enduring spirit of the building itself and the ever-evolving creativity of its residents.
